Lightspeed Commerce is seeking a Senior Back-end Engineer to join their team in Newmarket, Auckland. The ideal candidate is an experienced developer in Java, PHP, C#, C++, Ruby, or Python, willing to transition to building new Golang microservices. This role focuses on back-end development but may involve front-end work if interested. The position requires high-level performance, strong contributions to the team, and a focus on rapidly building solutions for retailers' problems. Key responsibilities include coding, delivering new features, code reviews, bug fixing, peer programming, and incident response. The tech stack includes web apps in Angular & React, Go services, databases, and Kafka topics, all deployed using Docker in AWS. Responsibilities For Senior Back-end Engineer
- Build and deliver new features
- Perform code reviews and fix bugs
- Engage in peer programming and incident response
- Own and be accountable for features and high-leverage coding projects
- Structure projects into small, actionable tasks
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers
- Share knowledge, participate in chapter reviews and demos
- Mentor fellow engineers
- Work on common services, shared libraries, and evolve best practices
Requirements For Senior Back-end Engineer
- Senior level of experience as a Back-end Engineer
- Deep knowledge in at least one of the following: Golang, Java, PHP, C#, C++, Ruby, Python, Elixir
- Experience in working on major systems in one or more languages
- Understanding of REST API endpoints, data storage layers, authentication, web security
- Ability to mentor and train other Engineers in the team
