Description For Machine Learning Engineer

Limbic is revolutionizing mental health care through AI, currently serving over 33% of NHS Talking Therapies and holding the distinction of being the only UKCA Class IIa certified AI mental health chatbot. We're looking for a Machine Learning Engineer to help shape the future of AI in mental health care. You'll be working with cutting-edge LLM technologies from industry leaders like OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google, while also handling in-house instances of models like Llama.

The role involves building sophisticated architectures that combine LLM capabilities with clinical ML-models and safety features, ensuring our AI solutions are both effective and responsible. You'll collaborate closely with machine learning scientists to integrate AI models into our backend services, build and tune custom models, and ensure seamless integration with our product infrastructure.

Recent projects include training models to detect problematic LLM outputs, managing custom Meta Llama fine-tuning on AWS GPU instances, and creating dashboards to compare therapeutic relationships across different AI agent interfaces. The position offers a hybrid working environment from our central London office, competitive compensation including equity, and a strong focus on employee wellbeing.

We're committed to diversity and inclusion, actively encouraging applications from women and individuals from diverse backgrounds. The role requires at least 2 years of industry ML experience and strong technical skills in Python, web frameworks, and cloud platforms. If you're passionate about using AI to make mental health care more accessible and effective, this is an opportunity to make a real impact in healthcare technology.
