LinkedIn is seeking a Director of Capacity, Efficiency, and Forecasting Engineering to lead a critical role within their engineering organization. This position is responsible for comprehensively understanding the end-to-end capacity needs of LinkedIn's ecosystem, ensuring efficiency through industry best practices, and collaborating with engineering teams to develop long-term and annual forecasts. The role involves providing clear predictability for finance and supply chain planning, as well as establishing transparent cost accounting for each application up to each business unit.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with engineering and infrastructure leadership to drive high availability of site capacity and forecasting needs
- Fostering a culture of efficiency for LinkedIn's overall ecosystem
- Serving as a role model and professional coach for engineers and managers
- Participating in developing long-term product reliability and technology roadmaps
- Driving improvements in end-to-end infrastructure and systems
- Being a domain expert in industry trends and best practices
- Contributing to hiring and developing talented leaders and engineers
- Building effective partnerships with development, infrastructure, and product teams
- Leading cross-organizational projects to ensure timely delivery and high quality
The ideal candidate will have:
- A Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
- 5+ years of experience managing teams of 40+ engineers
- Experience in attracting, retaining, and developing engineering talent
- Deep understanding of infrastructure products and driving capacity and efficiency
- Experience with the full lifecycle of building, deploying, and maintaining large-scale ecosystems
- Ability to build strategic roadmaps and lead through change
- Experience managing through leaders to drive business outcomes
- 5+ years in a large-scale web application infrastructure leadership position
- 4+ years of experience in areas such as performance engineering, capacity engineering, developer productivity engineering, or web engineering
