This key leadership role will be responsible for ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability of LinkedIn's traffic routing systems across their global infrastructure.

The position requires a seasoned professional with 12+ years of experience in network engineering, including 8+ years in leadership roles. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in DNS, traffic engineering, and routing platforms, along with hands-on experience with technologies like Azure Front Door, Cloudflare, IPVS, Apache Traffic Server, and various proxy systems.

Responsibilities For Director, Edge & Traffic Engineering

  • Define, develop, and execute comprehensive traffic engineering strategy
  • Drive continuous improvement in performance, reliability, and availability
  • Oversee architecture and optimization of traffic routing and DNS systems
  • Manage and enhance DNS resolution and traffic routing policies
  • Lead deployment of geographically distributed traffic management systems
  • Direct design and maintenance of traffic routing platforms
  • Implement and monitor proxy systems
  • Establish incident management and troubleshooting processes

Requirements For Director, Edge & Traffic Engineering

Kubernetes
  • Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 12+ years of experience in network engineering
  • Minimum of 8 years in a leadership role
  • 5+ experience managing large-scale, global networks
  • Experience in networking technologies, protocols (BGP, OSPF, MPLS), traffic engineering, and load balancing
  • Hands-on experience with edge networks, CDNs, cloud networking, and SDN
  • Strong project management skills
  • Experience with vendor management and contract negotiations
