Responsibilities For Director, Software Engineering, Site Reliability

  • Set the strategic vision, technical direction and develop execution roadmap for the organization
  • Build and maintain a high-performing engineering team of 40+ SREs
  • Drive APIs first approach for operations of infrastructure life cycle management
  • Provide observability and deep actionable insights into infrastructure health and drift
  • Drive automation, reduce operational toil, and foster a culture of continuous improvement
  • Collaborate closely with software development teams to ensure reliability of LinkedIn's streaming, batch processing, data lake and online serving document store ecosystems

Requirements For Director, Software Engineering, Site Reliability

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 15+ years in Engineering leadership focused on dev/ops based roles leading teams of engineers of size 40+
  • 8+ years of building software to simplifying operations and reducing toil in managing large scale infrastructure
  • 8+ years experience in Cloud data infrastructure, Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, Apache Hadoop infrastructure
  • Proficiency in cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), Linux-based systems, container orchestration
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and monitoring tools
