Manager, Software Engineering

LinkedIn, the world's largest professional network, is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to join their Media Infra organization, specifically leading the Media Services team. This role presents an exciting opportunity to manage a team of 7 engineers working on critical media processing infrastructure that directly impacts member experience.

The position involves leading the Media Services team, which is responsible for in-house processing and delivery of various media types including Video, Images, and Documents. The team works with Java MPs and integrates with native tools like FFmpeg, OpenCV, ImageMagick, and PDFBox. As the team sits at the intersection of infrastructure and product, your leadership will have a direct impact on member experience.

The role combines technical leadership with people management, requiring both deep technical expertise and strong leadership skills. Key responsibilities include managing team performance, participating in long-term technology roadmap development, coaching engineers, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable solutions.

This hybrid position is based in Mountain View, CA, offering flexibility while maintaining strong team connections. The compensation package is competitive, ranging from $147,000 to $240,000 annually, plus additional benefits including health and wellness programs, equity, and annual performance bonuses.

The ideal candidate will bring 5+ years of industry experience in software design and development, along with either management experience or staff-level engineering experience with management training. They should be well-versed in object-oriented programming, particularly Java, and have a strong understanding of distributed systems and scalable architecture.
