Manager, Software Engineering

LinkedIn is seeking a Manager of Software Engineering to join their Media Infra organization, leading the Media Services team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to manage a team of 7 engineers working on critical media processing and delivery infrastructure that directly impacts member experience.

The Media Services team handles in-house processing and delivery of on-demand media types including video, images and documents. The team works with Java MPs and integrates with native tools like FFmpeg, OpenCV, ImageMagick and PDFBox. Sitting at the intersection of infrastructure and product, this team's work has direct impact on LinkedIn's member experience.

As the Engineering Manager, you will:

• Lead performance management and career development for your team
• Own significant parts of LinkedIn products requiring design, architecture and coding
• Participate in developing long-term technology roadmaps with senior management
• Act as a role model and professional coach focused on engineering craftsmanship
• Collaborate across teams to leverage shared technical stack
• Make architectural decisions around distributed systems
• Ensure delivery of high-quality, tested code operating at scale

The ideal candidate brings:

• 5+ years of industry experience in software engineering
• 1+ years of management experience or equivalent staff level experience
• Strong background in distributed systems and scalable architectures
• Experience with Java or similar languages
• Track record of leading engineering teams and delivering complex projects
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
