LinkedIn is seeking a Senior Engineer, Data Center to join their team. This role will be based in Manassas, VA and requires full-time in-office presence due to the nature of the work and equipment used on site.
Data center engineering involves designing, building, and maintaining critical IT infrastructure, applications, and data. The role focuses on ensuring stability, reliability, and security of data center infrastructure, supporting the availability and performance of applications and services.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing new sites and expansions for fit-out designs
- Developing CFD cooling models and mechanical calculations
- Supporting data center fit-outs and commissioning
- Studying and recommending cooling equipment and strategies
- Assisting with liquid cooling options for machine learning hardware
- Supporting engineering investigations and root cause analysis
- Ensuring proper documentation and training for onsite personnel
- Testing new mechanical components for installation
- Meeting with providers to enforce SLAs
- Planning for future hardware and capacity needs
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Process Engineering
- 7+ years of experience in data center critical infrastructure
- 5+ years in direct data center construction experience
- Experience with large-scale infrastructure maintenance programs
- Strong technical documentation skills
- Professional certifications (CRE, CMRP, PE, CEng, or PMP)
Preferred qualifications:
- Doctorate in related field with 2+ years of technical project management
- 12+ years in direct data center construction experience
- Experience in hyperscale datacenter environments
- Proficiency in AutoCad, Revit, and DCIM applications
- Strong project management and communication skills
