LinkedIn is seeking a Software Engineering Manager for Systems and Infrastructure. This role will be based in Mountain View, Bellevue, or San Francisco, with a hybrid work option. As part of the world-class software engineering team, you will be responsible for building next-generation infrastructure and platforms for LinkedIn, including application and service delivery platforms, compute platforms, massively scalable data storage and replication systems, cutting-edge search platforms, AI platforms, experimentation platforms, and privacy and compliance platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, and manage a core team of engineers working on building infrastructure
- Participate in developing long-term technology roadmaps with senior management
- Dive deep into technical discussions to challenge the status quo and steer the team in the right direction
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with stakeholders across engineering and business leadership
- Help the team realize their potential by setting clear expectations, evaluating performance, and providing challenges
- Drive a culture of operational excellence, defining performance goals and metrics
- Create an inclusive work environment fostering autonomy, transparency, innovation, and learning
Requirements:
- BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience
- 1+ year(s) of management experience or 1+ year(s) of staff level engineering experience with management training
- 5+ years of industry experience in software design, development, and large-scale software engineering
- Experience programming in object-oriented languages (Java, C++, Python, Go, Rust, C#) and/or functional languages (Scala)
- Hands-on experience developing distributed systems, databases, large-scale data systems, and/or Backend APIs
Preferred Qualifications:
- MS or PhD in Computer Science or related technical discipline
- 2+ years of hands-on software engineering/technical management and people management experience
- 7+ years industry experience in software design, development, and algorithm-related solutions
- 5+ years programming experience in relevant languages
- Experience in architecting, building, and running large-scale distributed systems
- Experience with industry, open-source, and/or academic research in technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Kubernetes, Feather, GraphQL, gRPC, Apache Kafka, Pinot, Samza, or Venice
- Experience with open-source project management and governance
LinkedIn offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary range of $200,000 - $268,000, plus potential annual performance bonuses, stock options, and comprehensive benefits.
