Description For Staff Engineer, Site Reliability

LinkedIn, the world's largest professional network, is seeking a Staff Site Reliability Engineer to join their Traffic team in Sunnyvale, CA. This role is crucial in maintaining and scaling LinkedIn's massive infrastructure that serves over 1 Billion members and millions of requests per second.

The Traffic team is responsible for delivering LinkedIn's products and services to everyone on the Internet, operating at the edge of LinkedIn's data centers. You'll be working with Layer 4 and Layer 7 network proxies, load balancers, service discovery, monitoring, and CI/CD pipelines. This is a highly visible position where your work will directly impact the site's performance and reliability every day.

As a Staff SRE, you'll be responsible for the health, performance, and capacity of critical Internet-facing services. You'll develop tools for deployment and monitoring in a large-scale Linux environment, while working closely with partner teams to ensure platforms are designed with operability in mind. The role requires strong programming skills in languages like Go, Python, Java, and experience with technologies such as Kubernetes and Azure.

The position offers a hybrid work arrangement, allowing you to work both from home and the Sunnyvale office. You'll be part of a team that values collaboration, innovation, and technical excellence. The compensation package is competitive, ranging from $147,000 to $240,000 per year, reflecting the senior level and impact of this role.

Responsibilities For Staff Engineer, Site Reliability

  • Serve as a primary point responsible for the overall health, performance, and capacity of Internet-facing services
  • Develop and assist in the roll-out and deployment of new product features
  • Develop tools to improve deployment and monitoring capabilities
  • Work closely with partner teams on platform operability
  • Participate in 24x7 rotation for second-tier escalations

  • 2+ years experience with operating and troubleshooting Linux at scale

  • Knowledge of data structures, databases, networking, Linux internals
