Description For Database Engineer II

LivePerson, the global leader in enterprise conversations, is seeking a Database Engineer II to join their rapidly growing team. As a key player in evolving database and data storage systems, you'll work on cutting-edge cloud-based databases and help scale the company's technology faster than ever before.

You'll be responsible for understanding and designing highly-available, fault-tolerant cloud-based databases, collaborating on complex solutions, and investigating distributed architecture issues. Your role will involve optimizing database usage, advocating for quality software solutions, and automating database infrastructure.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience in production software systems, expertise in configuring database systems like MySQL, Cassandra, Couchbase, Elasticsearch, and NoSQL, and experience with hybrid cloud environments. Familiarity with Kafka, distributed systems, and asynchronous messaging is crucial. You should be comfortable working in a fully remote environment with a global team.

Responsibilities For Database Engineer II

  • Understand design and architecture of new highly-available and fault-tolerant cloud-based databases
  • Collaborate with the team on complex solutions
  • Investigate and solve problems across complex distributed architectures
  • Address capacity issues and limit the impact of stressed clusters
  • Work with database clients to improve their use of databases (optimize queries, evolve data models)
  • Advocate for solutions that balance quality and delivery speed
  • Work on automation of database infrastructure and provide self-service tools

Requirements For Database Engineer II

MySQL
Cassandra
MongoDB
Kafka
  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience building successful production software systems
  • Experience configuring database systems: MySQL, Cassandra, Couchbase, Elasticsearch, NoSQL
  • Experience managing database systems in a hybrid cloud (on-prem & public cloud)
  • Familiarity with distributed event streaming platforms, especially Kafka
  • Experience with distributed persistent systems & asynchronous messaging
  • Experience tuning distributed systems for performance under increasing traffic
  • Proven ability to work in a fully remote environment with people across the globe
  • Relevant certifications are a plus (e.g AWS Certification, Google Cloud Platform Certification)
