Description For Traffic Project Engineer III

Lochmueller Group is seeking an experienced and energetic Traffic Engineer to join their dynamic and growing Traffic Engineering & Planning team. The Traffic Engineering & Planning team is involved in various projects, including traffic safety and calming studies, transportation modeling and simulation, signal timing optimization, traffic signal and Intelligent Transportation System design, big data and logistics optimization, transit planning, pedestrian/bicycle planning, and long-range transportation planning.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Serving as a project engineer and/or project manager on traffic engineering projects
  • Coordinating with clients to understand project requirements
  • Taking a lead role in project planning, design, and implementation
  • Managing project tasks, budgets, schedules, and resources
  • Mentoring junior engineers and providing technical guidance
  • Reviewing project documents for quality and compliance

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or similar field
  • 8+ years of relevant traffic engineering experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation, Synchro 10, innovative intersection configurations, Highway Safety Manual, and traffic forecasting methods

Additional helpful qualifications include a Master's degree, PTOE registration, experience in traffic signal design, traffic studies, simulation modeling, travel demand modeling, urban planning, and team leadership.

Responsibilities For Traffic Project Engineer III

  • Serve as project engineer and/or project manager on traffic engineering projects
  • Coordinate with clients to understand project requirements and expectations
  • Take lead role in project planning, design, and implementation
  • Review and approve project scopes, budgets, and schedules
  • Manage project tasks, budgets, schedules, and resources effectively
  • Delegate work to project team members
  • Perform detailed engineering analysis and design tasks
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers
  • Review complete project documents for quality and compliance
  • Assist upper-level management as a technical specialist or advisor

Requirements For Traffic Project Engineer III

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or similar field
  • 8+ years of relevant traffic engineering experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation
  • Experience with Synchro 10 and traffic signal operations/phasing
  • Experience with innovative intersection and interchange configurations
  • Experience with the predictive methods of the Highway Safety Manual
  • Experience with traffic forecasting methods
  • Excellent inter-personal skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment
