Loft Orbital, a pioneering company in the space industry, is seeking a Senior Flight Software Engineer to join their innovative team. With four satellites already in orbit and more missions on the horizon, this is an exciting opportunity to be part of the growing space technology sector.

The role focuses on developing and maintaining distributed systems across multiple embedded platforms, including real-time operating systems and Linux kernel. As a Senior Flight Software Engineer, you'll work with a diverse, international team across offices in San Francisco, Golden, and Toulouse, collaborating with various stakeholders including Mission Leads, Satellite Operators, and Ground Software teams.

The position requires expertise in C/C++ and Python, with a strong foundation in embedded Linux operations, distributed application frameworks, and system architecture. You'll be responsible for driving innovation, tackling complex problems, and representing the company in public communications and customer interactions.

The compensation package is highly competitive, ranging from $165,000 to $231,000 annually, complemented by an extensive benefits package including full medical coverage, 401(k), equity options, and parental leave. Requirements For Senior Flight Software Engineer

Linux
Python
  • C/C++ and Python programming languages
  • Experience with Embedded Linux Operation (Systemd, Linux on ARM)
  • Development Process knowledge: Git, Ticketing systems, CI/CD, Build systems
  • Experience with Distributed Application Frameworks
  • Linux Networking (UDP, TCP, IP)
  • POSIX and Multi-threaded applications experience
  • Knowledge of Application Domains (Packet Serialization, Data model serialization, Real-time metrics)
  • Strong English skills
