Description For Senior Optical Engineer

Magic Leap, a pioneering company in spatial computing and augmented reality technology, is seeking a Senior Optical Engineer to join their Hardware Engineering team in Austin, TX. This role presents an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of AR/MR technology development.

The position involves working with an experienced cross-functional team to develop and manufacture innovative leading-edge optical components for AR/MR devices. The work environment is collaborative and hands-on, fostering engineering excellence, creativity, and innovation in interdisciplinary areas including optical metrology, testing, device fabrication, display technologies, image processing, and color sciences.

As a Senior Optical Engineer, you'll be responsible for performing characterization tests, developing new test metrics, and creating test stations for prototype components. You'll work closely with other engineering teams to understand and evaluate key design parameters, automate image capture and processing, and assess performance using established metrics.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of experience in optical metrology and instrumentation, along with a strong educational background in relevant fields. Hands-on experience with test automation, laboratory work, and image processing is essential. The role offers competitive compensation ranging from $120,000 to $155,000 USD, along with benefits including relocation assistance.
