Description For Frontend / UX Engineer (Senior)

Maihem is revolutionizing AI safety and control through their innovative simulation platform. Founded by AI researchers with PhDs from Oxford and Imperial College and backed by Y Combinator with a $6M seed round, they're tackling the crucial challenge of making AI systems safe and controllable.

As their Senior Frontend/UX Engineer, you'll be instrumental in shaping the future of AI safety. You'll own the design and development of their webapp and website, working on their advanced AI simulation and stress-testing platform. The role offers significant autonomy and responsibility in a startup environment that's both challenging and rewarding.

The company culture is described as nerdy, collegial, and relentlessly curious, with a strong emphasis on meritocracy and work-hard-play-hard mentality. They value diversity and inclusion, believing it's crucial for fairness in AI development.

Working at Maihem means joining a team solving a generational problem alongside founders with impressive backgrounds from Oxford, Imperial College, MIT, and Tesla. The company is well-resourced with backing from prestigious investors and is part of Y Combinator's network.

The compensation package is competitive (£70-100K) with equity and bonus opportunities, plus comprehensive benefits including private health insurance, pension contributions, and unique perks like a curiosity allowance for professional development.

The ideal candidate should have 3+ years of web development experience, strong UX design skills, and expertise in modern frontend technologies like React/Next.js, JavaScript, and Tailwind. Experience with AI/LLMs and Python would be advantageous.

This is an opportunity to make a lasting impact on AI safety while working with cutting-edge technology and world-class customers. The role combines technical challenges with the chance to shape product direction and company culture from the ground up.
