Backend Engineer

As a Backend Engineer at Marshmallow, you'll be joining the Claims Tech Team, which is distributed between Budapest and London. The team's purpose is to revolutionize the claims journey by streamlining the process, reducing costs, and enhancing customer experience. You'll be working on developing a cutting-edge internal Claims Management System (CMS) that handles every aspect of the claims process.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Working in a product engineering team to enable efficient automation for tens of thousands of policies
• Participating in technical scoping, estimation, and briefs
• Collaborating closely with the product owner to understand requirements and build solutions
• Evolving the architecture to optimize for product delivery speed
• Participating in setting quarterly team OKRs

The ideal candidate should have:

• 4+ years of experience as a software engineer
• 2+ years hands-on experience with Java 8+ & Spring
• Commercial experience with microservices
• Commercial awareness of AWS
• Commercial experience with Terraform
• Self-starter mentality and ability to take ownership
• Organization skills and reliability

The tech stack includes Java 17 μServices, Spring Boot with Spring Cloud, MySQL, Terraform, Docker, AWS Fargate, and Event Sourcing.
