Description For Data Scientist

Mastercard is seeking a Data Scientist to join our Economics & Location products team. As a global tech company that powers economies and empowers people in 200+ countries, we're looking for talented individuals to help deliver timely insights and forecasts on macro- and microeconomic trends.

The role sits within the Economics & Location products division, which leverages Mastercard data to provide insights on sales performance across sectors, geographies, and channels. You'll be part of a cross-functional team of data scientists, data engineers, econometricians, and platform designers working to scale our offerings and create innovative solutions.

Your primary responsibilities will include analyzing vast datasets, developing new models and forecasts, designing outlier detection algorithms, and working with both internal and external data sources. The ideal candidate should have 2-4 years of experience, strong SQL and Python/R skills, and experience with time series data and models.

Responsibilities For Data Scientist

  • Analyze & synthesize data sets from within Mastercard and beyond
  • Create prototypes for new ideas/offerings
  • Develop new models and detailed forecasts
  • Design outlier detection algorithms
  • Help locate and ingest relevant 3rd party data
  • Deliver timely insights and forecasts to internal and external stakeholders

Requirements For Data Scientist

Python
  • Undergraduate or master's degree
  • 2-4 years of work experience
  • Solid ability to write SQL
  • Experience with big data
  • Very comfortable programming in Python or R
  • Experience with time series data and models
  • Solid foundation in managing large datasets
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively in English and local office language(s)
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
