Description For Feeds & Automation Engineer

Feeds & Automation Engineers at Mediaocean create custom processes that ingest and optimize data for dynamic ads within the Flashtalking platform. This role involves working with product catalog data, often structured in the Google merchant feed format, to support retail advertising campaigns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Translate Jira requirements into ETL processes
  • Create product catalogs by synthesizing multiple data sets and performing data transforms
  • Use FTPs, PHP on AWS EC2 instances, MongoDB, and Power Feeds (Flashtalking proprietary platform) to load and manipulate product data
  • Create CRON Jobs and run scheduled ETL processes using Flashtalking-developed tools
  • Learn and understand Power Feeds functionality, including its technical advantages and limitations
  • Monitor ETL processing errors and flag issues to the team
  • Follow best practices outlined by the Feeds team
  • Document and report issues within data or Jira requirements

The ideal candidate will have strong skills in:

  • PHP (raw PHP knowledge preferred over website building experience)
  • ETL processing with XML, JSON, and delimited files
  • RESTful protocols
  • Various caching schemas
  • AWS / Cloud experience, particularly with DynamoDB and S3
  • MongoDB
  • JavaScript
  • InfluxDB
  • HTML
  • Understanding of CDN operations

This remote position offers an opportunity to work with cutting-edge ad tech, collaborating with the US Feeds team to determine technical requirements, outline data transformations, and implement campaign strategies. Communication will primarily occur through Jira tickets, emails, Slack, and occasional phone conversations.
