Smart Glasses OS - Engineer - iOS, Typescript Backend

Mentra is pioneering AugmentOS, the open source operating system for smart glasses, positioned as the Android equivalent for smart glasses technology. Our distinguished team, comprising alumni from MIT, Tsinghua, Google, Salesforce, JITX (YCS18), and the University of Toronto, brings over 6 years of smart glasses expertise.

The role focuses on two critical aspects:

1. Developing the iOS version of the edge compute component, which manages connections between smart glasses and phones/pucks using BLE, handling background processes, data streaming, and notifications.
2. Architecting and building a cloud-based system for AugmentOS, encompassing everything from BLE MCU to backend services, API integration, and SDK development.

The work environment is intense and passionate, with the team working seven days a week in their San Francisco Dogpatch office. Team members are expected to use smart glasses daily and share the vision of revolutionizing personal computing. The company also maintains a growing presence in Shenzhen, offering opportunities for international business trips.
