Smart Glasses OS - Founding Engineer - iOS, Python Backend

Mentra is building AugmentOS, the open source operating system for smart glasses, aiming to be the Android equivalent for smart glasses technology. The company's team consists of alumni from prestigious institutions like MIT, Tsinghua, and University of Toronto, with over 6 years of experience in smart glasses development.

The role focuses on two critical aspects:

1. Developing the iOS version of edge compute functionality, handling BLE connections with smart glasses, managing background processes, data streaming, and notifications.
2. Architecting and building a cloud-based system for AugmentOS, spanning from BLE MCU to backend services, APIs, and SDK development.

The work environment is intense and passionate, with the team working 7 days a week in their San Francisco Dogpatch office. The company maintains a growing presence in Shenzhen, with potential business trips available. Team members are expected to be deeply committed and wear smart glasses daily.
