Software Engineer - Mercari/Merpay/Mercoin/Mercari Hallo (Internship)

Mercari is seeking Software Engineering interns to join their team and work on developing features for the Mercari marketplace app in Japan or the Merpay mobile payment service. Interns will join a team of software engineers from diverse backgrounds and work on projects to improve the UX and specifications of Mercari, Merpay, and Mercari Shops products. The specific content of the work will involve handling technology and data to produce output, such as improving the search screen to enhance the listing and purchasing experience.

Candidates should be students of 16 years of age or older who would be able to join Mercari Group as new graduates from July 2025 to June 2026. They should have an interest in joining Mercari Group as a software engineer after the internship, possess basic knowledge of RDBMS and SQL, and have experience in developing/operating products.

The internship requires proficiency in either English or Japanese at an Independent (CEFR - B2) level. The work location is in Roppongi, Tokyo, Japan, with the option for remote work under Mercari's "Your Choice" work style policy.

Mercari offers a competitive hourly wage and benefits including full transportation coverage, custom PC, visa support, and accommodation for those from outside the Tokyo area. The internship is expected to last about 3 months, with a minimum of 20 hours of work per week.
