Meta is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to join their Design Engineering and Construction (DEC) team, focusing on data center operations and critical facilities. This role combines software engineering with industrial control systems, requiring expertise in PLC programming, SCADA systems, and data center infrastructure. The position offers an opportunity to work on innovative solutions that improve reliability, safety, and efficiency of Meta's data center operations.
The ideal candidate will bring 10+ years of control system experience, combining software expertise with mechanical and electrical systems knowledge. You'll be responsible for designing and implementing control systems using various PLC platforms (Rockwell, Schneider, Siemens), developing SCADA systems, and ensuring all implementations meet industry standards.

Responsibilities For Controls Engineer - DEC Engineering
- Design, develop, test, and implement Rockwell, Schneider and Siemens PLC code
- Create high-quality, efficient, and well-documented code
- Develop and configure SCADA systems
- Develop and maintain technical documentation
- Select and specify instrumentation and control devices
- Ensure instrumentation selection meets relevant standards
- Collaborate with multiple teams across different disciplines
- Contribute to data center strategy and roadmap
- Stay current on industry trends
- Travel to vendor/design partner locations and Meta's data center sites
Requirements For Controls Engineer - DEC Engineering
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or equivalent practical experience
- 10+ years of experience with control system design, development and management
- Software background (PLC code and SCADA)
- Understanding Ethernet-IP, Modus, OPC-UA, MQTT protocols
- Knowledge of Networking and Server/Client Workstations
- Experience managing large complex projects and project teams
- Certifications in various control systems
- Experience to establish working relationships and resolve interpersonal conflicts
- Experience working simultaneously on multiple projects
- Organizational and communication skills
- Knowledge of Mechanical systems, thermodynamics and psychometrics
- Understanding of electrical systems and schematics
- Datacenter/critical facilities experience
- Experience developing SOO, process controls and commissioning plans
