Description For Data Center Production Engineer

Meta, formerly Facebook, is seeking a Data Center Production Engineer to join their team in Bellevue, WA. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on engineering work in data center operations. You'll be responsible for analyzing complex technical issues, leading cross-functional projects, and maintaining high hardware quality levels. The position requires deep technical knowledge in Linux systems, programming skills in Python and SQL, and the ability to mentor team members.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in system design and development, with the ability to understand complex data center infrastructures. You'll work closely with hardware teams and vendors, participate in an on-call rotation, and travel to other data centers (15% travel required). Responsibilities For Data Center Production Engineer

  • Perform deep dives and analyze complex technical issues within the data center
  • Work as a technical lead with cross functional teams on large scale data center projects
  • Provide cross data center support and identify potentially larger issues
  • Work with internal hardware teams and vendors to resolve complex technical issues
  • Update and develop scripts and smaller sets of software
  • Use data to drive maximum server fleet up-time and utilization rates
  • Identify trends and systemic issues in the fleet and drive resolution
  • Mentor team members and provide technical guidance
  • Build cross functional relationships and influence policies
  • Participate in an on-call rotation

Requirements For Data Center Production Engineer

Python
Linux
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or related field
  • Knowledge of Linux and hardware systems support in an Internet operations environment
  • Experience modifying and developing in Python, SQL, and/or shell scripting
  • Knowledge of system design and development, Object Oriented Design, Test-driven Development
  • Knowledge of the interdependencies of data center functions and technologies
  • Experience managing multiple projects within the same time schedule
  • Position requires at least 15% travel to other data centers
