Meta Reality Labs (RL) is seeking an experienced Developer Advocate to join their Quest Developer Ecosystem team, focusing on the Horizon World platform. This role represents a unique opportunity to shape the future of immersive experiences and directly impact the quality of content available to Quest users.

The position combines technical expertise with developer relations, requiring a deep understanding of VR/AR technologies, particularly Unity and Unreal engines. As a Developer Advocate, you'll be responsible for building and nurturing relationships with third-party developers, helping them leverage the platform's capabilities to create compelling experiences in Horizon Worlds.

Key aspects of the role include running scaled programs in various markets, organizing and leading developer contests and hackathons, and serving as a bridge between the developer community and Meta's internal teams. You'll need to be an excellent communicator, capable of presenting at conferences and running workshops while also providing strategic insights on developer needs and market trends.

The role offers competitive compensation ($157,000-$218,000/year) plus bonus and equity, reflecting Meta's position as a leader in the immersive technology space. You'll be working at the forefront of VR/AR technology, helping shape the metaverse and the future of digital interaction.

Responsibilities For Developer Advocate

  • Inspire, educate and engage early stage developers on Horizon Worlds opportunities
  • Devise and execute growth initiatives programs with Product Marketing
  • Lead regional developer contests, hackathons and scaled funded initiatives
  • Build and nurture developer pipeline and collect product feedback
  • Serve as thought leader and provide guidance on best practices
  • Define regional strategy for developer focus
  • Present at conferences, meet-ups and events
  • Educate developers through communication channels
  • Build badging system for program members
  • Work directly with 3rd-party developers
  • Lead hands-on programming workshops and labs

Requirements For Developer Advocate

  • 8+ years experience working with digital creators, game developers, or partner management
  • Experience with Unity and/or Unreal technologies
  • Fundamental understanding of modern app development and optimization
  • Proven presentation skills
  • Understanding of program effectiveness measurement and KPIs
  • Experience translating insights and data into results
  • Experience leading cross-functional efforts
  • Proven communication and problem-solving skills
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher
  • Knowledge of XR technologies and Horizon World platform
  • Experience building VR, MR or AR applications
