Responsibilities For Director, Data Engineering (WhatsApp)
- Formulate and implement vision for data and analytics foundation
- Drive technical and process innovation for Infrastructure data engineering
- Establish processes for data fidelity, privacy, system reliability, and experimentation
- Manage and grow a high-quality data engineering team
- Partner with cross-functional teams to understand and deliver on data needs
- Design, build, and launch new data models and pipelines in production
- Define and manage SLAs for data sets and processes
- Drive data quality across product vertical
- Manage delivery of high-impact dashboards and visualizations
- Contribute to improving data engineering competency across Facebook
Requirements For Director, Data Engineering (WhatsApp)
- 12+ years of experience in Analytics, BI and Data Warehousing
- Experience scaling and managing 20+ person teams and managing managers
- Experience leading in highly cross-functional environment
- Communication and leadership experience with large scale strategic initiatives
- Data architecture experience
- Experience in SQL or similar languages
- Development experience in object-oriented language (Python, Java, etc.)
- Solid understanding of experimentation (A/B testing)
- BA/BS in Computer Science, Math, Physics, or other technical fields preferred
- Experience with ML development lifecycle preferred
- Experience with large scale infrastructure preferred
- Experience with data auditing and lineage tools preferred
- Experience with large volume data sets, Hive/Presto, and data visualization tools preferred
