As a Failure Analysis Engineer at Meta Quest (formerly Oculus), you will play a crucial role in determining rapid root cause analysis for issues occurring in new product development and reliability testing. The role emphasizes a collaborative and interdisciplinary approach to solving technical issues.
Key responsibilities include:
- Defining failure analysis action plans and performing detailed root cause analysis on complex failures from reliability tests and new product introductions (NPI)
- Cross-correlating data from various techniques to drive conclusions
- Preparing clear, logical, and professional failure analysis reports
- Providing on-the-ground support at manufacturing partner sites
- Working with external partner labs to supplement lab capabilities when necessary
The ideal candidate should have:
- A Master's degree or higher in physics, chemistry, materials science, mechanical engineering, or a related field (PhD preferred)
- 2+ years of experience in failure analysis, material characterization, or product development
- Hands-on experience with one or multiple FA tools, including x-ray imaging, microscopy, SEM, FTIR, sample preparation, XPS, etc.
- A passion for learning new skills and experiences
- Willingness to travel up to 30% domestically/internationally

- Experience working in a laboratory environment

- Knowledge of consumer electronics and high-volume manufacturing environments
