Description For Hardware Design Engineer (Consumer Electronics)

Meta is seeking a Hardware Design Engineer to join their Smart Glasses team, focusing on designing, building, and testing prototype electrical systems for their expanding line of smart glasses. This role combines hardware engineering expertise with consumer electronics innovation, working on systems with custom ASICs, microcontrollers, microprocessors, FPGAs, audio, and camera sensors.

The position offers an opportunity to work at the intersection of high fashion and cutting-edge technology, contributing to Meta's vision of augmented and virtual reality. You'll be part of a dynamic team exploring new concepts through fast iterative prototyping, collaborating with mechanical, industrial design, software/firmware, operations, and manufacturing teams.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in high-volume consumer products and the ability to develop detailed electrical schematics and layouts. You'll also have the opportunity to help build and mentor a growing team of engineers while working on groundbreaking smart glasses technology.

Key technical areas include high-speed signaling, sensor systems, vision systems, and audio technologies. The role requires both technical expertise and strong collaborative skills, as you'll be working across various engineering disciplines to manage trade-offs between electronics, mechanics, optics, sensors, haptics, firmware, and software.

Responsibilities For Hardware Design Engineer (Consumer Electronics)

  • Contribute to the development of complex subsystems and moderately complex subsystems
  • Design schematics, evaluate components, direct board layout, conduct design reviews and draft design documentations
  • Manage bring up and debug, support manufacturing and assembly build
  • Collaborate across engineering disciplines to develop systems
  • Evaluate vendor reference design and transform these into custom solutions
  • Work in distributed team environment
  • Travel both domestically and internationally

Requirements For Hardware Design Engineer (Consumer Electronics)

Python
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, or equivalent industry experience
  • Proven knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals
  • Experience with schematic and board design using Cadence OrCAD, Altium or equivalent
  • Experience with oscilloscopes, high speed digital test equipment, logic analyzers, or function generators
  • Experience with digital signal processing, real-time image processing, display engineering, camera modules, mobile SoC and PMIC, or Battery Management System
  • Proven technical communication skills
  • Experience designing mixed high-speed digital circuit boards
