Description For Mechanical Engineer

At Meta Reality Labs (FRL), we are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our innovative team focused on advancing AR/VR experiences. The role involves developing designs for wearable devices, considering various hardware requirements including materials, manufacturability, form factor, ergonomics, and integration of technologies on softgoods substrates. The ideal candidate will explore novel ideas through concept feasibility studies, interactive prototyping, and CAD tools for architectural development.

Working within Meta's AR/VR division, you'll be part of a team pushing the boundaries of immersive technology. You'll collaborate with researchers and engineers specializing in haptics, sensor fusion, novel materials, and AR/VR-specific human-computer-interface paradigms. The position offers access to cutting-edge technology, resources, and testing facilities.

The role requires strong mechanical engineering expertise, particularly in wearable technology development. You'll lead workstreams for sensor and actuator integration, work on full product development cycles, and partner with manufacturers to ensure high-quality production. Responsibilities For Mechanical Engineer

  • Lead Mechanical Engineering workstreams for sensor and actuator integration onto soft goods substrates for wearable hardware
  • Work across full product development cycle to deliver robust mechanical designs from concept to production
  • Partner with cross-functional researchers and engineers develop wearable architectures for AR/VR interaction
  • Engage with Contract Manufacturers and Joint Development Manufacturers to produce high-quality devices

Requirements For Mechanical Engineer

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent design experience
  • 5+ years of experience working on high-volume consumer products
  • 5+ years of experience in 3D CAD modeling (NX) and physical prototyping
  • Demonstrated experience with manufacturing techniques (machining, 3D printing, injection molding, etc.)
  • Experience with component/system level modeling and optimization Design of Experiments and Design for Six Sigma
