Description For Network Operations Engineer, Subsea

Meta is seeking a Subsea Network Operations Engineer to join their world-class infrastructure team. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on one of the world's largest and most complex networks, specifically focusing on subsea network operations. The position combines technical expertise in network operations with project management responsibilities, requiring deep knowledge of subsea cable systems and network infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the performance and operations of Meta's subsea network infrastructure, acting as a subject matter expert for operations and maintenance, and serving as the primary liaison with third-party vendors. They will oversee critical aspects of network deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting while ensuring proper documentation and process implementation.

This role requires a seasoned professional with at least 10 years of industry experience in subsea operations and technology. The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of wet plant operations, fault diagnosis, and telecommunications network infrastructure. They will be comfortable managing complex projects, coordinating with multiple stakeholders, and providing technical leadership.

Responsibilities For Network Operations Engineer, Subsea

  • Manage subsea network performance and operations
  • Perform MA duties on Meta owned cable systems
  • Act as O&M SME for contracting and provide consultative O&M guidance
  • Run turnkey projects and field deployments
  • Act as primary liaison to third party vendors
  • Technical support for network restoration and subsea performance
  • Collaborate with various teams for operational acceptance plans
  • Oversee documentation efforts
  • Manage operations on call
  • Travel 10% to 25% of time

Requirements For Network Operations Engineer, Subsea

Linux
  • 10+ years industry experience in Subsea Operations, Deployments, and Technology
  • Experience with wet plant failure mechanisms and fault diagnosis
  • Experience managing and operating wet plant including BU's, WSS ROADMs and Repeaters
  • Familiarity with DCN operations and network security
  • Hands-on experience with CLS tools and test equipment
  • CLS management experience
  • Experience in Subsea O&M
  • Technical experience in telecommunication networks
  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field (preferred)
