Description For Network Production Engineer (University Grad)

This role is for a Network Production Engineer (University Grad) at Meta. Your primary function will be to ensure that the network is reliable, robust, and can scale to meet the challenges of serving over a billion users. You'll be responsible for developing and deploying network designs, automation systems, and network performance improvements into Meta's production network.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Building experience with Backbone, Data Center, and Network Infrastructure Engineering teams through rotational experiences during your first year
  • Building, managing, and maintaining multi-vendor, multi-protocol data center and backbone networks
  • Developing optimized network monitoring systems
  • Designing and deploying new network architectures
  • Developing automated methods to mitigate and remediate network events
  • Analyzing data to diagnose and identify root causes of network issues
  • Being an active participant in deep technical discussions
  • Developing and maintaining consistency within the network infrastructure

This role offers the opportunity to work on one of the most dynamic, fast-paced networks in the world and contribute to Meta's mission of making the world more open and connected. It's ideal for someone who wants to solve problems that can only be seen in large-scale environments and desires to do more than what typical network growth allows.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical field (or equivalent practical experience), experience with computer networks, UNIX, TCP/IP, and network fundamentals, coding experience in at least one language (Python/Golang/Rust/C++ are in use), and the ability to learn new concepts around network design and management.

Preferred qualifications include knowledge of Switching and Routing concepts and implementation, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, ISIS), and tunneling protocols (MPLS, GRE, IPnIP).

Meta offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary range of $105,000 to $137,000 per year, plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Join Meta to shape the future of social technology and work beyond the constraints of screens, distance, and even the rules of physics.
