Description For Optical Engineer

Meta's Optical Technologies Group is seeking an Optical Engineer to join their team focused on enabling optical communication hardware for Meta's data center networking and AI/ML systems. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to Meta's global data center network and influence the optical networking industry. The position involves working with cutting-edge optical communication technology, collaborating across multiple engineering disciplines, and leading new optical communication programs.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in optical communication components and test automation, with a strong educational background in optical engineering or related fields. Responsibilities For Optical Engineer

  • Collaborate with Meta engineers on next generation optical communication technology testing
  • Work collaboratively across teams including SW, Thermal, Mechanical, and EE
  • Develop test and simulation methodologies for high-speed optical technologies
  • Develop automation practices and solutions for lab testing
  • Lead new optical communication NPI programs
  • Interface with industry and contribute to RFI/RFP process
  • Communicate complex optical hardware requirements to stakeholders

Requirements For Optical Engineer

Python
  • Master's degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Sciences and Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in development and validation of optical communication components
  • 5+ years of experience in high-speed optical and electrical test and measurement equipment
  • Programming skills in Python, C/C++, or MATLAB
  • Experience with system-level optical communication hardware and components
  • Experience with advanced modulation formats and concepts
  • Experience with optical integration including InP PICs, Silicon-photonic PICs
