Description For Opto-Mechanical Engineer

Meta is seeking an Opto-Mechanical Engineer to play a crucial role in developing AR, MR, and Wearable Systems. As part of the Facebook Reality Labs team, you'll explore new concepts through cost-effective mechanical design, optical modeling, and fast iterative prototyping. The role combines electrical, mechanical, optical, and miniaturization techniques to drive innovation in consumer technology products.

The ideal candidate should have strong mechanical and optical engineering expertise, with a proven track record in consumer electronics product development. You'll be responsible for developing opto-mechanical system requirements, building and testing prototypes, and working across the full product development cycle. Responsibilities For Opto-Mechanical Engineer

  • Drive development of opto-mechanical system requirements for advanced camera & depth system technologies
  • Model, build, test, and refine prototypes and characterization test systems
  • Work across the full product development cycle, from concept inception to shipping product
  • Work with vendors worldwide
  • Push state-of-the-art technologies and approaches to solving complex mechanical problems

Requirements For Opto-Mechanical Engineer

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of mechanical engineering experience in high-volume consumer electronics product development
  • Knowledge of material properties of plastics, metal, adhesive, glass, PCBA, and flex circuit
  • Knowledge and application of GD&T techniques and knowledge of associated metrology approaches
  • Knowledge of high-volume manufacturing techniques
  • Extensive experience in 3D design modeling and physical prototyping
  • Experience in testing and analysis
