Description For PCB Layout Engineer - Reality Labs Research

Meta's Reality Labs Research (RL-R) is seeking a skilled PCB Layout Engineer to join their innovative team working on next-generation virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. This role is crucial in designing and developing detailed layouts for various types of PCBs, including rigid, FPC, and rigid-FPC configurations.

The position requires extensive collaboration with engineers and project team members, performing complex CAD and CAE tasks, and serving as a liaison between RL-R Hardware and PCB Fab/Assembly vendors. The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of experience in PCB design using industry-standard tools like Altium or Cadence/Allegro.

Key responsibilities include working with the Hardware Engineering team on schematic and PCB board designs, collaborating with vendors on material selection and manufacturing issues, maintaining schematic symbols and PCB footprints, and managing documentation. The role demands expertise in designing high-speed differential circuits, power circuits, and RF circuits, with a strong understanding of PCB layout design constraints.

Responsibilities For PCB Layout Engineer - Reality Labs Research

  • Work with Hardware Engineering team(s) to provide Schematic and PCB board designs
  • Collaborate with PCB vendors to select materials, stack-ups, and resolve manufacturing issues
  • Create and maintain Schematic symbols and PCB footprints
  • Work with ECAD librarian(s) on maintaining company-wide library
  • Create and manage PCB documentation including fabrication and assembly packages
  • Work with document control department for PLM system releases
  • Collaborate across engineering disciplines

Requirements For PCB Layout Engineer - Reality Labs Research

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of PCB Design experience using Altium and/or Cadence/Allegro
  • Knowledge of IPC, JEDEC, IEEE, and other electronic standards
  • Experience in creating schematic symbols and PCB footprints
  • Experience interpreting datasheets and schematics
  • Experience in designing multiple PCB types: HDI Design, Rigid, Rigid-FPC, and FPC
  • Experience in designing high speed differential circuits
  • Experience in PCB layout design constraints
