Description For Privacy & Data Policy Manager

Meta is hiring a Privacy & Data Policy Manager with expertise in youth privacy and sensitive data policy issues to join our Data Governance team. In this role, you'll help shape the company's approach to youth privacy and sensitive data across our suite of products and services.

You'll work closely with product managers, engineers, public policy managers, public affairs managers, external stakeholders, and cross-functional partners across the company. You'll serve as a deep subject matter expert on youth privacy and sensitive data for Meta's global policy team and work with partner teams to evaluate and respond to legislative and regulatory developments, and engage with external experts on these issues.

A strong candidate will be familiar with the most relevant debates on youth privacy, specifically related to age verification and age assurance. Ideally, you should also be familiar with the global legislative landscape as it relates to youth and sensitive data.

You should be a proactive self-starter, a team player, and a creative problem-solver who is able to switch easily between detailed day-to-day consultation and high-level strategic thinking. You should also have an understanding of the stakeholders and perspectives in the broader privacy and youth expert community and be able to use this knowledge to counsel product teams, support policy partners, and assess when additional expert stakeholder engagement will be critical to product and policy development.

Responsibilities:

  • Engaging with external stakeholders to drive conversations around key youth and sensitive data issues.
  • Creating policy strategies and guidelines that can be used by product teams to influence product roadmaps.
  • Identifying external trends that may impact our products and services, and distilling these into guidance, memos or reports that can be easily understood by your key internal stakeholders.
  • Preparing leaders for engagements, and engaging with policymakers and policy influencers in the space.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Meta apps, features, platform, policies and operations
  • 3+ years of experience working in privacy (specifically sensitive data) or youth policy or related field
  • Bachelor's degree in political science, policy, law, social science or related field
  • Knowledge of key age verification policy issues and the surrounding debate
  • Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced environment, cross-company collaboration, thinking and moving quickly, prioritizing across a broad portfolio, flexing communication skills dependant on your audience, finding pragmatic and creative solutions to legislative, regulatory and business issues, providing concise and focused advice and updates

Preferred Qualifications:

  • JD or Master's degree or equivalent in relevant subject
  • Experience working on technology law or policy in more than one of these three categories: (1) civil society or academia, (2) company or firm, or (3) government
  • Working familiarity with key privacy and youth policy stakeholders and experts from civil society, academia, and government
  • Experience working directly with senior business executives and/or high-ranking government officials

Meta is committed to providing reasonable accommodations for candidates with disabilities, long term conditions, mental health conditions or sincerely held religious beliefs, or who are neurodivergent or require pregnancy-related support.
