As a Research Engineer in the Audio team, you'll play a crucial role in advancing audio AR & VR technologies through large-scale data collection, processing, and management.

The position offers an opportunity to work alongside world-class researchers and engineers in creating breakthrough technologies for Smartglasses, AR glasses, and VR headsets. You'll be involved in various aspects of audio technology development, from data collection to machine learning system implementation.

Your responsibilities will include designing and maintaining sophisticated data collection systems, developing processing tools, and conducting detailed data analysis. The role requires strong technical skills in Python and audio processing, combined with excellent communication abilities to work effectively with diverse teams.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of industry experience and strong expertise in working with large-scale data collection systems. You'll be part of Meta's mission to make AR and VR as universal as smartphones and personal computers, contributing to technologies that will fundamentally change how we work, play, and connect.

This position offers competitive compensation ranging from $139,000 to $200,000 annually, plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits. You'll be working at Meta's Redmond location, contributing to groundbreaking research in audio AR & VR technologies while collaborating with industry-leading scientists and engineers.

Responsibilities For Research Engineer: Audio

  • Work with researchers to understand data needs and propose solutions
  • Work with data collection project and program managers to prioritize work
  • Take ownership of data collection systems design, setup, and maintenance
  • Design and implement tooling for data processing, visualization, and management
  • Perform data analysis to identify future data quality improvements
  • Investigate novel data collection methods
  • Create documentation for efficient data use
  • Collaborate in a diverse team environment
  • Communication of progress through posts, presentations, and meetings

Requirements For Research Engineer: Audio

Python
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience
  • 3+ years experience with Python
  • 3+ years experience working with large data collection systems and datasets for machine learning
  • Experience working with audio including audio processing and acoustic datasets
  • Experience in communicating effectively with stakeholders and collaborators
