Meta Reality Labs is seeking a Research Scientist Intern to help develop practical neural interfaces using non-invasive electromyography (EMG). The role involves working at the intersection of computational neuroscience, machine learning, signal processing, and other related fields. Responsibilities include implementing and accelerating the EMG machine learning platform, creating new AI models and tools, and collaborating with various teams to advance AI-driven AR/VR technology. The internship lasts 12-24 weeks with various start dates throughout the year.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop Deep Learning models for Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, and EMG signal processing
- Design methods and tools for analyzing multimodal data sets
- Collaborate on innovative deep learning models for EMG-based AR/VR interaction
- Integrate core science goals with deliverables
- Define short-term research goals considering practical engineering concerns
- Help transition research into product development
Qualifications:
- PhD (in progress or completed) in machine learning, signal processing, computer science, or related fields
- Research experience in machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, or NLP
- Programming experience in Python and frameworks like PyTorch
- Must obtain and maintain work authorization in the country of employment
Preferred qualifications:
- Intent to return to degree program after internship
- Software engineering experience through internships, work, or research
- Experience in rapid iteration research environments
- Background in neuroscience, EMG, brain-machine interfaces, or human-computer interactions
