Description For Research Scientist Intern, Computer Vision and Machine Learning (PhD)

The Reality Labs org at Meta aims to connect people worldwide through world-class AR/VR hardware and software. The XR Spatial AI team develops cutting-edge technologies for current and future Meta products, focusing on Scene Understanding and Rendering. Research areas include Depth Inference, Semantic Segmentation, Semantic Keypoint, Passthrough, Occlusion, Room Layout Estimation, and 3D Object Detection.

As a Research Scientist Intern in Computer Vision and Machine Learning, you will:

  • Participate in cutting-edge CV & ML research for VR/AR/MR topics
  • Develop technology for mass-market consumer products
  • Document and present research progress
  • Aim to publish findings at high-impact CV/ML conferences

The internship lasts 12 to 24 weeks with various start dates throughout the year.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years experience with Python and/or C++
  • 2+ years experience with modern deep learning frameworks like PyTorch
  • Knowledge in Computer Vision (Scene Understanding, Depth Estimation, Multi-View Geometry, Semi/Weekly/Self-supervised ML, Computational Geometry)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Publications in top computer vision conferences or journals
  • Demonstrated software engineering experience
  • Intent to return to a degree program after the internship
  • Experience working in cross-functional team environments
