Description For Security Engineer, Investigations - i3E

Meta's Integrity, Investigations, Intelligence and Events (i3E) teams are seeking a Security Engineer to protect users across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Oculus from sophisticated threats. This role combines investigative expertise with engineering skills to combat criminal organizations, human trafficking, and fraud. You'll work on high-impact security challenges, developing automated solutions and conducting complex investigations using advanced data analysis techniques.

The position requires a unique blend of technical prowess and investigative skills, where you'll leverage various data sources and intelligence tools to identify and disrupt threats. You'll be working with cutting-edge technology and big data tools while contributing to Meta's mission of protecting billions of users worldwide.

As a Security Engineer, you'll be part of a global team tackling some of the most challenging security issues in social technology. Responsibilities For Security Engineer, Investigations - i3E

  • Proactively hunt for threats and undetected abuse using internal data, open-source intelligence, and third party private intelligence
  • Investigate complex cases to understand abuse and implement enforcement strategies
  • Identify areas to automate investigative tooling and tradecraft
  • Analyze and interpret large datasets to advance investigations
  • Implement effective strategies to prevent and disrupt abuse at scale
  • Address sensitive content issues and objectionable material

Requirements For Security Engineer, Investigations - i3E

Python
PHP
  • 5+ years work experience in cyber security, private sector security investigations and intelligence, government, and/or intelligence
  • Subject matter expertise with malware and/or account-based threats
  • Experience working with Python, PHP or similar scripting languages
  • Experience with big data tools such as Maltego, Palantir, Tableau
  • Track record of effective communication and presenting technical findings
  • Experience prioritizing and executing with minimal direction
  • Experience working with a team spanning multiple locations/time zones
  • BS/MS or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, Intelligence Studies, Cybersecurity or related field
