Description For Senior Security Engineering Lead

Halo Studios, part of Xbox Game Studios, is seeking a Senior Security Engineering Lead to spearhead security initiatives for their next-generation game development using Unreal Engine. This role combines technical leadership with team management, requiring expertise in both security engineering and people management.

The position involves leading a team of security analysts and engineers, working at the intersection of game development and cybersecurity. You'll be responsible for securing the research and development infrastructure that powers the creation of new Halo experiences, one of gaming's most iconic franchises. The role requires collaboration with multiple stakeholders, including Gaming Security, Microsoft Security, and various partners.

Key technical areas include Identity & Access Management (IAM), Incident Response & Threat Detection, Endpoint Security & Protection, and Azure Security & Cloud Engineering. The ideal candidate will bring 5+ years of experience in operational security, with at least 3 years in senior or architectural roles. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and modern security frameworks is essential.

The position offers a competitive salary range of $117,200 - $229,200 USD (higher in SF and NYC areas), along with comprehensive benefits including healthcare, educational resources, and parental leave. This is a hybrid role based in Redmond, WA, with up to 50% work from home flexibility and 0-25% travel requirements.

Responsibilities For Senior Security Engineering Lead

  • Engage with Leadership team, presenting security proposals and initiatives
  • Serve as Product Owner for the security team, working with Production and scrum team
  • Envision and architect high-quality distributed services for Gaming security
  • Partner with Microsoft Gaming, Microsoft Security, and partners
  • Lead and coach a team of security professionals
  • Drive proactive security measures across cloud, onsite and partner environments
  • Develop detailed roadmaps for engineering teams
  • Collaborate across large organizations and multi-disciplinary teams
  • Maintain knowledge of technologies and architectures
  • Design process and Operational Improvement for Security Compliance Programs
  • Provide strategic Cloud Security Architecture guidance

Requirements For Senior Security Engineering Lead

Linux
  • 5+ years experience in software development lifecycle, cyber security, SOC detection
  • 3+ years managing and leading multi-disciplinary teams
  • 3+ years leading a security function
  • 5+ years experience in operational security
  • Security certifications (CISSP, CISA, CISM, SANS, OSCP preferred)
  • Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure
  • Technical skills in network security, cryptography, identity management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Cloud security guardrails and controls
  • Experience with industry compliance and security standards
