Description For CE Field Service Engineer

Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is seeking a CE Field Service Engineer to join their datacenter operations team. This role is crucial in maintaining and optimizing Microsoft's vast infrastructure of over 100 datacenters and 1 million servers worldwide. The position involves managing critical environment systems, ensuring optimal operational efficiency, and maintaining high availability standards for Microsoft's cloud services including Azure, Office 365, and Xbox.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in datacenter operations and critical environment infrastructure management. You'll be responsible for overseeing mechanical and electrical equipment maintenance, implementing energy efficiency initiatives, and ensuring compliance with safety and security protocols. The role requires strong technical expertise combined with excellent problem-solving abilities and leadership skills.

Responsibilities For CE Field Service Engineer

  • Maximize Critical Environment (CE) availability in leased Datacenters
  • Oversee day-to-day operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Reduce high-impact and human-error Critical Environment incidents
  • Deliver cost/energy efficiency initiatives
  • Support Datacenter's Emergency Preparedness and Response plans
  • Coordinate CE audits and compliance verification
  • Manage Power/Temperature/Relative Humidity and SLA monitoring
  • Work with regional and global peers to share best practices
  • Ensure compliance with data center policies
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) process

Requirements For CE Field Service Engineer

Linux
  • Bachelor's Degree AND 5+ year(s) industry experience in a datacenter or critical environment facility
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire and every two years
  • Experience with IT infrastructure (Servers, SANs, Networking, etc.)
  • Experience working on large scale CE projects
  • Bachelor's Degree or Technical College certification in mechanical or electrical engineering
