Description For CE Field Service Engineer

Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is seeking a CE Field Service Engineer to join their datacenter operations team. This role is crucial in maintaining and operating Microsoft's vast infrastructure of over 100 datacenters and 1 million servers worldwide, serving more than 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses across 90+ countries.

As a CE Field Service Engineer, you'll be responsible for ensuring the optimal operation of critical environment infrastructure in Microsoft's datacenters. Your role will involve managing mechanical and electrical equipment, implementing safety protocols, and coordinating with various teams to maintain service quality and efficiency.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maximizing Critical Environment availability in leased Datacenters
  • Overseeing daily operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Supporting Emergency Preparedness and Response plans
  • Coordinating CE audits and compliance verification
  • Managing Power/Temperature/Relative Humidity monitoring
  • Building strong relationships with Engineering Groups and Landlord partners

The ideal candidate should have:

  • High School Diploma with 2+ years industry experience in datacenter environments, OR 3+ years experience with college coursework
  • Business level Japanese and English language skills
  • Experience with Critical Environment infrastructures (UPS, Generator, AHU)
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure operations

  • Ensure compliance with data center business units and service-level policies
  • Maximize Critical Environment (CE) availability in leased Datacenters
  • Oversee day-to-day operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Support Emergency Preparedness and Response plans
  • Coordinate CE audits and compliance verification
  • Manage Power/Temperature/Relative Humidity monitoring
  • Build relationships with Engineering Groups and Landlord partners
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) process

Requirements For CE Field Service Engineer

Linux
  • High School Diploma or equivalent AND 2+ year(s) industry experience in a datacenter or critical environment facility, OR 3+ years industry experience and college course work
  • Business level Japanese and English language skills
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements
  • Pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check
