Description For Cloud Network Engineer II

Microsoft is seeking a Cloud Network Engineer II to join their Azure WAN (Wide Area Network) Team. This role presents an exciting opportunity to work on Microsoft's global backbone network, combining networking expertise with software development skills. The position is based in Redmond, WA, with the option for up to 100% remote work.

The role requires 5+ years of technical experience in network design, development, and automation (or equivalent education and experience combinations). You'll be responsible for designing and developing networking and automation components for the Wide Area Network, working closely with Azure Networking partner teams. This high-visibility position offers excellent career growth potential in a rapidly expanding area of Microsoft Azure.

Key responsibilities include developing reliable, scalable network components, participating in design reviews, implementing automated tools, and managing cross-functional dependencies. The ideal candidate should have experience with routing protocols (BGP, MPLS, ISIS) and professional software development experience, particularly with Python.

Requirements For Cloud Network Engineer II

  • 5+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation OR Bachelor's Degree with 2+ years experience OR Master's Degree with 1+ year experience
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check
  • Experience with routing protocols (BGP, MPLS, ISIS, Segment Routing)
  • Professional software development experience in networking domain
  • Network engineering experience in cloud provider, internet service provider or large enterprise environment
