Description For Cloud Network Peering Engineer

Microsoft Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) is seeking an experienced Network Peering Engineer to join their team. This role is crucial in managing peer relationships, Internet Exchanges, and optimizing traffic profiles for Microsoft's global cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the global Internet ecosystem, especially in Asia.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining healthy relationships with established peers and developing new strategic partnerships
  • Managing Internet Exchange (IX) relationships and contracts for optimal connectivity and performance
  • Formulating and executing strategies to keep traffic localized, optimizing cost and performance
  • Representing Microsoft's interests in developing internet ecosystem policies

The role requires:

  • 2+ years of technical experience in network design, development, and automation OR a relevant Bachelor's Degree
  • 4+ years of experience in networking technologies
  • Expertise in strategic negotiations and business development in peering and internet technologies
  • Understanding of BGP configuration and internet routing
  • Experience with contractual/MSA negotiations
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently
