Description For Cloud Software Engineer II

Microsoft Silicon, Cloud Hardware, and Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) is the team behind Microsoft's expanding Cloud Infrastructure and responsible for powering Microsoft's "Intelligent Cloud" mission. SCHIE delivers the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Teams, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform globally with our server and data center infrastructure, security and compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability solutions.

The Cloud Readiness Certified (CRC) team within SCHIE drives the hardware, firmware, and infrastructure software validation lifecycle and is accountable for the quality experience of our cloud customers. Our goal is to exceed customer expectations in every aspect related to infrastructure quality. We invest heavily in automating validation processes, continuously monitoring hardware quality in production, predicting hardware failures, detecting behavioral anomalies, and mitigating issues before they impact customers.

As a Cloud Software Engineer II, you will:

  • Design, develop, and deliver software that measures and improves the quality of Azure hardware
  • Focus on customer experience
  • Identify and fix systemic issues, influence and create new designs, architectures, standards, and methods for large-scale distributed systems
  • Collaborate with hardware architects and PMs to verify new Azure hardware
  • Solve mission-critical problems relating to our services by building software automation
  • Prototype, incubate, and pilot new initiatives as our business grows

Responsibilities For Cloud Software Engineer II

Requirements For Cloud Software Engineer II

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience
  • 2+ years software development experience in distributed automation systems
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements
  • Pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
