Description For Critical Environment Field Service Engineer

Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) division is seeking a Critical Environment Field Service Engineer to join their datacenter operations team. This role is crucial in maintaining and operating Microsoft's vast infrastructure of over 100 datacenters and 1 million servers worldwide, supporting services for more than 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses across 90+ countries.

The position offers an exciting opportunity to work with critical infrastructure systems, including UPS, Generator, and AHU systems, while ensuring the reliability and efficiency of Microsoft's cloud services. The role combines technical expertise in mechanical and electrical systems with operational management, requiring both hands-on technical skills and strategic thinking.

As a CE Field Service Engineer, you'll be responsible for maximizing datacenter availability, overseeing maintenance operations, and implementing best practices across the facility. The role involves collaboration with global teams, participation in audit processes, and contribution to emergency response planning.

Responsibilities For Critical Environment Field Service Engineer

  • Ensure compliance with data center business units and service-level policies
  • Maximize Critical Environment (CE) availability in leased Datacenters
  • Oversee day-to-day operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Reduce high-impact and human-error Critical Environment incidents
  • Support Datacenter's Emergency Preparedness and Response plans
  • Coordinate and supervise CE audits and compliance verification
  • Manage and analyze Power/Temperature/Relative Humidity and SLA monitoring
  • Work with regional and global peers to share best practices
  • Provide mentorship and share best practices across data centers

Requirements For Critical Environment Field Service Engineer

  • High School Diploma or equivalent AND industry experience in a datacenter or other critical environment facility
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire and every two years
  • Experience in Critical Environment infrastructures (UPS, Generator, AHU) preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree or Technical College certification in mechanical or electrical engineering preferred
  • Experience with IT infrastructure (Servers, SANs, Networking) preferred
