Description For Critical Environment Field Service Engineer

Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) division is seeking a Critical Environment Field Service Engineer to join their team managing the core infrastructure that powers Microsoft's cloud services. This role is based in Chicago and offers a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $159,600.

The position involves working in Microsoft's extensive global datacenter network, which includes over 100 datacenters and 1 million servers supporting services for more than 1 billion customers worldwide. As a CE FSE, you'll be responsible for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of critical datacenter environments, managing mechanical and electrical equipment, and implementing best practices for infrastructure management.

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in IT equipment support or related technology, with preferred experience in Critical Environment infrastructures. You'll work closely with engineering groups and landlord partners, participate in audit processes, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities For Critical Environment Field Service Engineer

  • Ensure compliance with data center business units and service-level policies
  • Maximize Critical Environment (CE) availability in conjunction with landlord partners
  • Oversee day-to-day operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Support delivery of Datacenter's Emergency Preparedness and Response plans
  • Coordinate and supervise CE audits and compliance verification
  • Manage and analyze Power/Temperature/Relative Humidity and SLA monitoring
  • Work with regional and global peers to share best practices
  • Reduce high-impact and human-error Critical Environment incidents

Requirements For Critical Environment Field Service Engineer

Linux
  • High School Qualification or equivalent AND 2+ years experience supporting IT equipment or related technology
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check
  • Experience with IT infrastructure (Servers, SANs, Networking, etc.)
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements
