Description For Critical Environment Field Service Engineer

Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) division is seeking a Critical Environment Field Service Engineer to join their datacenter operations team. This role is crucial in maintaining and optimizing the infrastructure that powers Microsoft's global cloud services, including Azure, Office 365, and Xbox. The position offers an opportunity to work with a vast network of datacenters comprising over 1 million servers across 100+ locations worldwide.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of critical environment systems, working closely with landlord partners and engineering groups to maintain optimal datacenter operations. This role requires a blend of technical expertise in mechanical and electrical systems, along with strong project management and communication skills.

Responsibilities For Critical Environment Field Service Engineer

  • Ensures compliance with data center business units and service-level policies
  • Manages programs associated with area of responsibility
  • Maximize Critical Environment (CE) availability in leased Datacenters
  • Oversee day-to-day operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Support delivery of Datacenter's Emergency Preparedness and Response plans
  • Coordinate CE audits and compliance verification
  • Ensure routine reporting for Power/Temperature/Relative Humidity and SLA monitoring
  • Work with regional and global peers to share best practices
  • Provides mentorship across data centers

Requirements For Critical Environment Field Service Engineer

  • High School Diploma / Bachelors degree or equivalent AND industry experience in a datacenter
  • Must be legally authorised to work in the UK
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud background check
  • Experience in Critical Environment infrastructures (UPS, Generator, AHU)
  • Bachelor's Degree or Technical College certification in mechanical or electrical engineering
