Description For Critical Environment Instrumentation Engineer

Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is seeking a Critical Environment Instrumentation Engineer (CE IE) to join their dynamic team. This role is crucial in delivering core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform.

The CE IE will work in Microsoft's 24x7x365 mission-critical datacenters, maintaining Industrial Control Systems (ICS) availability, data quality, service and change management, reporting, and security. The role involves site-level ICS program and project management, as well as participation in global initiatives related to ICS systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing, servicing, and governing electrical and mechanical industrial control systems
  • Governing logical and physical access to ICS systems, networks, workstations, and servers
  • Empowering a culture of safety and security in global datacenter operations
  • Developing positive working relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders

The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, with 2+ years of technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, service engineering, or systems engineering. Preferred qualifications include experience in operational mission-critical facilities, design and commissioning of ICS in datacenter environments, and knowledge of building electrical and mechanical systems.
