Description For Critical Environment Instrumentation Engineer

Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team is seeking a Critical Environment Instrumentation Engineer to join their dynamic datacenter operations team. This role is crucial in maintaining and managing the industrial control systems that power Microsoft's global network of 200+ datacenters across 32 countries.

The position combines software engineering expertise with infrastructure management, requiring a unique blend of technical skills in both IT and Critical Environments systems. As a CE IE, you'll be responsible for ensuring the 24/7/365 operation of mission-critical datacenter facilities that support major Microsoft services including Azure, Office 365, Xbox, and Bing.

Responsibilities For Critical Environment Instrumentation Engineer

  • Maintaining Industrial Control Systems (ICS) availability and security in Data Centers
  • Site level ICS program and project management
  • Managing Microsoft's electrical and mechanical industrial control systems
  • Governing logical and physical access to ICS systems
  • Ensuring compliance with safety programs and policies
  • Developing relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders

Requirements For Critical Environment Instrumentation Engineer

Linux
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 2+ years technical experience
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud background check
  • Knowledge of construction techniques and terminology including blueprints reading
  • Experience with Industrial Controls Systems (ICS)
  • Experience with building electrical and mechanical systems
  • Understanding of Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) and Building Automation Systems (BAS)
