This role is crucial in maintaining and managing the industrial control systems that power Microsoft's vast network of 200+ datacenters across 32 countries. The position combines technical expertise in electrical and mechanical systems with operational management in a 24x7x365 mission-critical environment.

Responsibilities For Critical Environment Instrumentation Engineer

  • Maintaining Industrial Control Systems (ICS) availability, data quality, and security in Data Centers
  • Site level ICS program and project management
  • Managing Microsoft's electrical and mechanical industrial control systems
  • Governing logical and physical access to ICS systems
  • Empowering a culture of safety and security in global datacenter operations
  • Developing positive working relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders

Requirements For Critical Environment Instrumentation Engineer

Linux
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering AND 2+ years technical experience OR equivalent experience
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years
  • Knowledge of construction techniques and terminology including blueprint reading
  • Experience with Industrial Controls Systems (ICS) in datacenter environments
  • Experience with building electrical and mechanical systems
  • Understanding of Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) and Building Automation Systems (BAS)
