Description For Critical Environment Mechanical Engineer

Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is seeking a Critical Environment Mechanical Engineer to join their team responsible for maintaining and operating critical datacenter infrastructure. The role involves managing facility environments, ensuring safety protocols, and maintaining mechanical systems across Microsoft's global portfolio of more than 100 datacenters. The position requires strong technical expertise in mechanical engineering with focus on facility operations, maintenance of critical systems, and environmental sustainability.

The ideal candidate will have experience with heating and cooling systems, water treatment methodologies, and backup equipment operations. They will be responsible for ensuring service uptime, managing incidents, and working with construction teams on system integration. Responsibilities For Critical Environment Mechanical Engineer

  • Ensure safe operation of datacenter facilities

  • Work with Construction and Commissioning team
  • Act as technical authority for mission-critical mechanical systems
  • Establish maintenance and safety operating procedures
  • Support and validate on-site datacenter operations

Requirements For Critical Environment Mechanical Engineer

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Process Engineering or related field
  • Strong technical engineering experience
  • Experience with operation and maintenance of facility environments
  • Knowledge of construction techniques and documentation
  • Experience with building management systems and automation
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud background check
